Genovese Basil is widely known as the classical choice for pesto and complimenting garlic dishes. The flat leaved deep green plant has a strong spicy fragrance and flavor and is a staple for any herb garden.
Sowing: Basil does best in warm weather, thriving in soil that drains well and does not dip below 50 degrees Fahrenheit. If sowing indoors, spread thinly in a flat and provide heat to speed germination. Direct sowing should be done deep in soil, after the last frost in the spring in full sun.
