Chives are a versatile and tasty herb, perfect for adding a mild onion like flavor to any dish. Pair with baked potatoes, soups, and stews. This grass like herb grows in bunches with deep green hollow stems.

Sowing: Chives are an herb that does well in ground, or in a container. Chives do best in rich soil, and seeds can be started indoors approximately 4 weeks before the last spring frost. To achieve fastest germination, provide bottom heat, moisture, and darkness. The seeds should sprout within 2-3 weeks. To direct sow, plant the seeds after the last frost of spring 1/4" deep in rows 18" apart, thinning to 6-8" apart as soon as the seedlings appear. Chives also grow well as a container plant.
