Spider Plant (Chlorophytum comosum) is native tropical South Africa.  The leaves of this plant are unique in the way they grow; reaching upwards before curling back down on itself to the base.  This gives the plant the appearance of a spider.  The leaves on the Bonnie Spider are thin and curly  that point at the ends.  Spider Plant is very cool as it can generously produce little babies which start as white flowers.  This makes this plant easy to propagate as you can simply root these babies in soil.  Spider Plant is known for it's air purifying properties and it is one of the easiest house plants to maintain.  Spider Plants can endure a wide range of conditions without issue making this plant one of the best choices for beginners.

Spider Plants enjoy bright indirect light, want to be watered once every 1-2 weeks, and enjoy slightly cooler temps (55 - 65 degrees).  However, Spider Plants can tolerate a much wider range of temperatures.  Be sure to let your Spider Plant dry out a bit between waterings and never allow the soil to be soggy.

Fun Fact: Propagating a Spider Plant baby is fun and easy to do!  Simply find a container and fill with soil.  Place the container near the Mother Plant and plant the baby in the new container.  If you leave the baby attached to the Mother while it roots that is best.  Once it is rooted simply clip the baby free of the Mother and poof new Spider Plant!  Make sure to water the baby plant while it is rooting.

WATERING NEEDS

Water when soil is dry. Keep soil evenly moist - not dry, but not too wet. Keep your spider plant somewhat dryer over the winter and only give more water in the spring.

FERTILIZING NEEDS

Fertilize sparingly as over fertilization can cause tips to brown. There is no specific fertilizer for spider plants. Any all-purpose fertilizer for houseplants is acceptable.

SUN | SOIL | POTTING

Thrives in bright warm spot indoors (65-77 degrees Fahrenheit) but preferably out of direct sunlight and preferably not below 50 degrees.
